Pacifier was founded by Jon Witthuhn and Quyen (pronounced "wing") Tran after a frustrating and fruitless search for a suitably "cool" gift for their new niece, Thalia. Minneapolis, though quite a hip town (shhh, we're trying not to let the word spread too much), was rather behind when it came to the realm of hip babies.
Lacking any other real purpose in life (save repeatedly applying for "The Amazing Race"), Jon and Quyen opened Pacifier in March 2004 in the Old St. Anthony district of Minneapolis, an urban neighborhood just northeast of downtown which is home to institutions such as Nye's Polanaise Room, Kramarczuk's Deli (great homemade sausages!), the Times Cafe, Pizza Nea, the Bulldog NE (try the junk burger), Denny Kemp Salon + Spa, and the Bibelot Shops.
Pacifier's customers raved about the eclectic collection of cool and modern baby gifts, clothes, wooden toys, slings, diaper bags, and furniture that they found. Many asked if Pacifier had a website. Thanks to the guys at Designzoo, a website design studio down the block, we opened PacifierOnline.com in October 2004.
